Marcelo Vignali was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1965. The family moved to California in 1976 where Marcelo graduated from West Covina high school in 1983. He began his formal art education at Otis Art Institute of Parson's School of Design, where he studied illustration for four years.

Marcelo began working as a commercial artist in 1985 doing black and white illustrations for the Los Angeles Times Syndicate, his illustrations were featured in 56 newspapers across the United States. Shortly after, Marcelo embarked on a career in television animation working for DIC Entertainment.

In 1989 Marcelo would establish a relationship with the Walt Disney Company that would span well over a decade, both in feature animated films and theme park design. Despite having left the Disney studios in 1996, Marcelo has been able to maintain a working relationship with the Walt Disney company as a freelance commercial artist. Today, Marcelo enjoys the reputation of being one of the entertainment industry's top freelance talents.

Marcelo is happily married and lives in Utah with his wife and two daughters.
